Career

His first solo exhibition took place in 1964 at the Kornblee Gallery . In the mid-1960s, Morley taught at Ohio State University, the School of Visual Arts and Stony Brook University. In 1972, he participated in the major international exhibtion Documenta in Kassel. In 1983, the Whitechapel Gallery organized a retrospectice exhibition resulting in Morley winning the inaugural Turner Prize, which was awarded by the Tate. Morley was the subject of many museum exhibitions at venues including Tate Liverpool Musée National d'Art Moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou, Fundación La Zaixa, the Hayward Gallery and the Ashmolean Museum.
