Ponti, Gio, 1891-1979

"The real artists are not dreamers, as so many believe; they are terrible realists. They do not transpose reality into a dream but a dream into reality—written, drawn, musical, architectural reality." ~ Gio Ponti

Giovanni 'Gio' Ponti was an Italian architect, industrial designer, furniture designer, artist, teacher, writer and publisher. During his six decade-long career, Ponti designed and built over one hundred buildings around the world, and was an active designer of decorative arts and furniture. He also founded the architecture and design magazine 'Domus' in 1928.
